![]() The speedy nature of the panel also meant no ghosting. The black levels were fairly decent too, although the screen’s low brightness levels may pose a problem if you operate in a well-lit environment. In my tests, the display also held up pretty well in color accuracy with no noticeable banding or gradient present. ![]() The display panel delivers what it says on the tin, with buttery smooth images with minimal input lag. The laptop unit that I received for review has a 144Hz refresh rate, but there is also a 240Hz variant if you want to shell out for Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU (AED 7,999). The Helios 300 sports a 15.6” 1920x1080 resolution display. The less wires stretching out from the sides of the laptop, the better. The power port is located in the rear, which is a design choice I will always appreciate in a laptop. On the left, it sports two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm headphone audio jack (that also supports mic input). On the right side, there’s a Thunderbolt 3 port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 input, and an HDMI port. The Helios 300 has enough ports to support a host of devices. The WASD and arrow keys, along with the numlock key, are colored differently than the rest of the keyboard to make them standout and make the keyboard look more appealing. On the deck we have a chiclet-style keyboard complete with a numpad, and a large trackpad that tracks reasonably well. The top lid was smeared in smudges within moments of unpacking the laptop, and I constantly find myself cleaning it to not leave any permanent marks (we have to return the laptop, after all!). The body is mostly made of matte black metal, which unfortunately is extremely prone to smudges. In terms of design, the Helios 300 is helped by its rather tastefully done chrome accents and angular lines that elevates it from looking too plain. But the Helios 300 also has a larger screen and more ports, and while that does makes it slightly less portable than the G14, it’s a tradeoff I am willing to take. ![]() Measuring 14.3 x 10.5 x 0.8 inches and weighing under 3kgs, the Helios 300 is heavier than some of its direct competitors, most notably the extremely slick, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. ![]()
